Exercicis de comparatius i superlatius — Anglès 1r ESO
Per comparar persones, animals i coses en anglès, la forma de l'adjectiu canvia segons la seva llargada. Aquests exercicis et fan formar el comparatiu i el superlatiu d'adjectius curts, com young o wide, i d'adjectius llargs, com interesting o dangerous, a més dels irregulars good i bad. També completes frases amb than, aprens quan es fa servir the davant del superlatiu i quan va in o of. Practiques la comparació d'igualtat amb as...as i la de desigualtat amb not as...as. Al final llegeixes petits textos i dades i decideixes si les afirmacions són certes. Errors típics: barrejar more amb -er, com a more taller, i dir that en lloc de than.
Nivell bàsic
Exercici 1
Escriu el comparatiu d'aquests adjectius: young, cheap, wide, thin, busy.

cheap → cheaper
wide → wider (només -r perquè ja acaba en -e)
thin → thinner (es dobla la n)
busy → busier (consonant + y → -ier)
Exercici 2
Escriu el superlatiu (amb the) d'aquests adjectius: slow, wide, sad, tidy, dangerous.

tidy → the tidiest
dangerous → the most dangerous (adjectiu llarg: the most + adjectiu)

Completa amb el comparatiu: 'A mouse is ______ (small) than a rabbit.'

Small és un adjectiu d'una síl·laba: s'hi afegeix -er i després va than.
Exercici 4
Completa amb el comparatiu: 'For Pol, maths is ______ (interesting) than history.'

Interesting és un adjectiu llarg (tres o més síl·labes): es fa servir more + adjectiu.

Tria la forma correcta: 'This T-shirt is (dirtyer / dirtier / more dirty) than that one.'

Després d'un comparatiu en -er o more va than. En la comparació d'igualtat s'usa as + adjectiu + as.

Escriu el comparatiu i el superlatiu (amb the) dels adjectius irregulars good i bad.

Són irregulars: no s'hi afegeix -er ni -est.

Tradueix a l'anglès: 'La meva habitació és més gran que la teva.'

Big dobla la g: bigger. Yours és el pronom possessiu i evita repetir room.
Exercici 10
Classifica aquests adjectius segons el seu comparatiu: -er (curts) o more (llargs): clean, careful, strong, modern, funny.

Les dues formes són vàlides per parlar de distància (further també es fa servir en sentit figurat).
Exercici 13
Corregeix els errors: 'Rita is more taller that Nina.'

1) Tall és curt: es fa -er, no more + -er.
2) Després del comparatiu va than, no that.
Exercici 14
Corregeix els errors: 'Joan is the most fast runner of the school.'
Mostra la solució
Joan is the fastest runner in the school.
Fast és curt, per tant fa the fastest (no the most fast). A més, amb un lloc o un grup s'usa in: in the school.

Completa amb in o of: a) 'This is the best restaurant ___ town.' b) 'She is the youngest ___ the three sisters.'

Amb llocs o grups (town, class, school) s'usa in; amb un nombre concret d'elements (the three sisters) s'usa of.
Exercici 16
Escriu una sola frase amb as...as: 'Tom is 1.60 m tall. Lia is 1.60 m tall.'

As + adjectiu + as expressa que dues coses són iguals.
Exercici 17
Ordena les paraules per formar una frase correcta: than / is / my / sister / me / tidier

També es considera correcte tidier than I (més formal). Tidy fa tidier.
Exercici 18
Completa amb el comparatiu o el superlatiu de old: 'My mobile is old, but my brother's is ______ than mine. My grandfather's is ______ phone in the family.'

Amb objectes es fa servir older / the oldest. Elder / eldest només s'usen amb persones d'una família (my elder sister) i no van seguits de than.

Tradueix a l'anglès: 'El meu germà és una mica més alt que jo.'

A bit, a little, slightly, much, a lot i far es posen davant del comparatiu.
Exercici 20
Tria la forma correcta: 'Is this book (the most good / the best / the goodest) of the three?'

Good és irregular: better, the best. No és correcte the most good ni the goodest.

Exercici 21
Escriu tres frases comparant aquestes tres ciutats a partir de la temperatura d'un dia (dades inventades): Vilanova fa 18 graus, Girona fa 22 graus i Lleida fa 25 graus. Fes servir warmer, the warmest i not as warm as.

Girona is warmer than Vilanova.
Lleida is the warmest city.
Vilanova isn't as warm as Girona.
Altres frases correctes són vàlides si fan servir bé els tres elements.
Exercici 22
Completa el text amb la forma que calgui de cada adjectiu: 'My cousin's flat is (1) ___ (small) than ours, but it is (2) ___ (bright). It is not (3) ___ (modern) as the new flats, but it is (4) ___ (comfortable) place I know.'

Exercici 23
Dades: Ona té 12 anys i fa 1,50 m; Biel té 13 anys i fa 1,48 m; Joan té 12 anys i fa 1,55 m. Digues si són veritables o falses: a) Biel is the oldest. b) Ona is taller than Biel. c) Joan is the shortest. d) Ona is as old as Joan.

Escriu una pregunta amb un superlatiu per a cada resposta (hi pot haver més d'una pregunta possible): a) 'Cheetahs.' b) 'January.' c) 'My grandmother.'

Cada pregunta ha de portar the + superlatiu.

Redacta 5 frases comparant esports o assignatures. Fes servir almenys un comparatiu, un superlatiu i una frase amb as...as.

Preguntes freqüents
Quan es fa servir -er i quan more?
Els adjectius d'una sola síl·laba fan -er (tall, taller) i els acabats en -y també (busy, busier). Els adjectius llargs fan more: more interesting.
Es diu in o of després d'un superlatiu?
In s'usa amb llocs i grups (the best restaurant in town, the tallest in the class) i of amb un nombre d'elements (the youngest of the three sisters).
Com es diu «tan alt com» en anglès?
Amb as + adjectiu + as: «He is as tall as his father». En negatiu es fa not as...as: «I'm not as tall as him».
