Ordre correcte: (c) introducció ('Nowadays, many people...'), (b) cos amb l'opinió ('In my opinion,...'), (a) conclusió ('To sum up,...').

'First, we met at the station at nine.' (o 'At first,...'). Marca l'inici de la seqüència.

First, then, next, finally.
Serveixen per ordenar fets en una història o una explicació.

So introdueix la conseqüència; because, la causa.
I was tired, so I went to bed early.

(a) i (c): In my opinion i I believe that.
(b) situa una història en el temps i (d) ordena idees.

Last Saturday, I went to the cinema with my friends.
Cal majúscula a l'inici, a Saturday i al pronom I, i un punt al final.

Because introdueix el motiu de l'opinió.
I think schools should start later because teenagers need more sleep.

La (b): presenta el tema de manera general.
La (a) és una presentació personal, no una introducció d'opinió.

In conclusion serveix per tancar un text.
For example introdueix un exemple, i suddenly marca un fet inesperat en una història.

La (a): situa el moment i el context.
La (b) és una frase de tancament d'un text d'opinió.

'In my opinion, we should recycle more.' (o 'I think that we should recycle more.') No cal acumular dues fórmules d'opinió.

'It was raining and everyone was waiting inside when the teacher arrived.' Fons en past continuous (was raining, was waiting) i fet puntual en past simple (arrived).

(a) és el decorat (situació inicial, past continuous). (b) és la complicació (el fet que ho canvia tot, past simple amb 'suddenly').

Resposta model: 'In the end, we found the way home and everything was fine.' Ha de tancar la història en past simple i, si cal, past continuous.

'Suddenly, the lights went out and everyone screamed.' 'Suddenly' marca un fet inesperat.

Moreover, Also o In addition afegeixen una idea.
Online classes are comfortable. Moreover, they save time.

For example introdueix un cas concret.
Many animals are in danger. For example, the panda is an endangered species.

Although introdueix una idea que contrasta.
Although it was cold, we went swimming. (o: We went swimming although it was cold.)

Model de resposta: The film was fantastic. The ending was disappointing.
Altres opcions: great, amazing, boring, terrible.

Ordre: d, b, c, a.
Primer la situació inicial, després el problema, un fet que ho canvia i el desenllaç amb In the end.

(a) but (enllaça dues oracions).
(b) However (inici de frase nova, amb coma).
(c) Although (inici d'una oració subordinada).

'However, it can be addictive.' (o 'On the other hand,...'). 'However' introdueix un contrast.

'I opened the door, saw a shadow and ran away.' Són fets encadenats de la història: van en past simple, no en past continuous.

'In the end, we decided to go home.' Per al desenllaç s'usa 'in the end', no 'at the end' (que vol dir 'al final físic de').

In my opinion, schools should not ban mobile phones completely. Firstly, phones can be useful for learning, for example to look up words. Secondly, students can learn to use them responsibly. However, they shouldn't use them during lessons. To sum up, a limit is better than a ban.

It was a dark night and the wind was blowing. We were walking past an old house. Suddenly, a light came on in the top window and a door opened slowly.
Es valora la combinació del past continuous per al fons i del past simple per als fets.

Es valora el past simple i un connector de desenllaç.

Model de resposta: I like cities, but they are noisy, so I prefer small towns because they are quiet.
Connectors usats: but (contrast), so (conseqüència), because (causa).

Model de resposta:
Last summer I was waiting for the bus when I met my favourite singer. First, he smiled at me. Then we talked for ten minutes. In the end, he signed my T-shirt. That was the best day of my life.
